Lions, alligators and beavers oh my. If you missed Buddy Skate 2011 you missed a great night.
The Rebels hosted the Genesis School for autistic children as well as special education students from the Half Hollow Hills School District in Huntington for a night of safe ice skating and holiday party. Assisted by players from the Lady Islanders and the Jr Royals team the students and players all had a great time. The special attraction for the evening was supplied by Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom Adventure. All got to see the baby lion, alligator, owl, beaver and boa constrictor.
E-mails from students parents make all the work worthwhile, "we couldn't get the smile off her face, it
was great", "he nearly had a meltdown when it was time to leave, thank you thank you", "it gave us so much joy to watch them interact with their buddies", and "this year my son was mesmerized by the animals provided by Mutual of
Omaha. He could not stop talking about his experience (and for a child
who is challenged by a processing/language disorder) this is a big
deal! ".
The even was catered by Salpino3 and as always everything was great. A special thanks has to go out to Mark Keating from Mutual of Omaha for not only arranging the Wild Kingdom Adventure but sponsoring the night for all to have a great time.
