The Rebels Midget Minor team headed up to Newburgh NY today to play in the NYSAHA Sectional playdowns to determine the teams that will head up to Buffalo in March representing the East Zone in the State Championship.

Traditionally, the state seeds are determined by league standings, this year however, since there is a challanger not in the LIAHL a sectional playdown was required.  Four teams are competing for three spots and after a decisive victory (6-1) over PAL the boys are one step closer.

The Rebels dominated the game from the opening face off but the long car ride must have left them a bit leg-weary as they only managed to bury 2 pucks in the first frame and took a 2-0 lead into the start of the second.  As the game progressed, the boys began to show their stuff as they scored three more times in the second for a total  of 5 unanswered goals and a 5-0 lead at the cut.

The third period was somewhat reserved each team managed to tally 1 goal in the final period as the buzzer sounded with the Rebels taking the game 6-1. With a commanding lead in the 3rd , Coach Dan was able to roll the lines, giving the team a bit of a rest as he looks ahead to the next two games  and the tougher part of the sectional schedule.  Tomorrow, the Rebels will face the GNY Stars and the Long Island Edge.

Let's Go Rebels!!!!!!

Thats right, the Long Island Rebels now have their own app.

Apple has approved and released the "Long Island Rebels Hockey" app today.   It can be found in the App Store under Long Island Rebels Hockey (be sure to use the capitals on each word).  The Android version will be released later this week.

The app can be used to keep you up to date with news, rosters, games, scores and practices.  When an update is completed in the app. it will notify all members of the team or organization.

We will not be utilizing the app until next season so I will not be updating the rosters until then.
