On Saturday, January 11th, 2020 the LI Rebels Hockey Community hosted a Make-A-Wish event to help Logan achieve his big dream of visiting Disney World ºoº.

Logan is a bright eyed 9 year old who loves hockey and has been putting up a strong fight against his genetic connective tissue and seizure disorder.

Logan and his family joined the LI Rebels 16U Team for an evening of fun and fundraising as they sold raffle baskets, 50/50 tickets and ducks for the chuck-a-duck conducted during the 2nd and 3rd period ice cut.

The boys presented Logan with a LI Rebel’s jersey which just happens to be his favorite color BLUE!  The boys on the team also signed a puck giving it to Logan as a forever memory.

Logan dropped the first puck of the LI Rebels 16U game with a big smile on his face. The boys were so happy to have brought Logan and his family so much joy.

If you were unable to attend this wonderful event but would like to help Logan’s Make-A-Wish of going to Disney World you can donate here:

The LI Rebels Bantam Major AA team got three points from Jake Abrami (2G, 1A) and 27 saves from Matt McCarthy to defeat the LI Edge, 5-2, and win the LIAHL Championship this past Tuesday night in front of a packed house at the TOH Dix Hills rink.

The teams were tied 1-1 heading in the third period. Blake Hanson scored a power-play goal on a pass from Abrami to give the Rebels a 2-1 lead. The Rebels padded that lead just a few moments later after Joe Lucente tucked one into the Edge goal after a collision in front of the net.

Later it was Abrami again, this time on a penalty shot, to put the Rebels up 4-1. After the Edge got a goal back, Nick Bottoni iced the win with an empty net goal that led to the 5-2 final.

"I told the boys that the game would be decided by our forecheck and our ability to defend in front of our net. We were able to apply good pressure on a team that moves the puck very well out of their zone. Our Defense was able to shut down the fast breaks and we had an outstanding game from our goaltender," said Rebels Head Coach James Chang after the win.

Abrami started the scoring in the first period, putting home a rebound from Colin Beisel.

For the Rebels, the win was their sixth consecutive playoff win of the season and third championship win, following titles at the War at the Shore and Empire State Cup earlier this year.

"This was a season of ups and downs, but we certainly finished on a high note and couldn't be more proud of the boys," added coach James Chang.
