The LIAHL Championship finals found both the Peewee Minor and Bantam Minor teams coming up short today at Parkwood Ice Rink in Great Neck. The Peewee Minor team netted three goals in the 3rd but they were over powered by the Great Neck Bruins.  The Bantam Minors suffered the same fate against and older Great Neck team in their finals. After going down 4-0 in the first five minutes of the game the 98 Rebels were able to slam home 2 goals in the final minute and close within one when the buzzer sounded.

The Rebel organization is very proud of both teams.  The players and coaches did a great job and fought hard to the end!

Congratulations to our players and coaches and congratulations to the Great Neck Bruins!!!!

The LIAHL Tier III Playoffs opened with a bang for the Long Island Rebels as both the Peewee Minor and Bantam Minor teams have advanced to the finals of the LIAHL Season Championships! The Peewee Minor team knocked off the Edge in the first round while the Bantam Minors followed up with a win over Brewster. Both teams will face off against the Great Neck Bruins Sunday morning at Great Neck.  The Midget and Tier II Playoffs will take place next weekend.

The Long Island Rebel teams enjoyed great sucsess in the LIAHL League this year. When the final buzzer sounded, marking the end of the 2011-2012 season, the official standings had Rebel teams finishing with 5 teams qualifying for the LIAHL Championship Playoffs (Peewee Minor, Bantam Minor, Bantam Major, M16U AA, and M16U A)...3 teams finishing first in their division (PW Minor, Bantam Major, and M16U AA(UNDEFEATED!))...and two teams will head off to compete in the New York State Championships each qualifying as the first seed from the Eastern Zone (Bantam Major and M16U AA)!

Congratulations to all our Teams, Players, and Parents on a great season....GO REBELS!!!!

Lions, alligators and beavers oh my.  If you missed Buddy Skate 2011 you missed a great night.

The Rebels hosted the Genesis School for autistic children as well as special education students from the Half Hollow Hills School District in Huntington for a night of safe ice skating and holiday party.   Assisted by players from the Lady Islanders and the Jr Royals team the students and players all had a great time.   The special attraction for the evening was supplied by Mutual of Omaha Wild Kingdom Adventure.   All got to see the baby lion, alligator, owl, beaver and boa constrictor.

E-mails from students parents make all the work worthwhile,  "we couldn't get the smile off her face, it was great",   "he nearly had a meltdown when it was time to leave, thank you  thank you",  "it gave us so much joy to watch them interact with their buddies", and  "this year my son was mesmerized by the animals provided by Mutual of Omaha.  He could not stop talking about his experience (and for a child who is challenged by a processing/language disorder) this is a big deal! ".

The even was catered by Salpino3 and as always everything was great.  A special thanks has to go out to Mark Keating from Mutual of Omaha for not only arranging the Wild Kingdom Adventure but sponsoring the night for all to have a great time.
