Rebel alumni player Jake Bichko is a standout forward for the Junior Royals team this year.  This season in 21 games Jake has 15 goals and 14 assists for 29 points.    The Jr. Royals are currently leading the MET league with a 18-2 record and the highest win percentage in the league.

According to his dad, the only thing Jake wanted was to play on the Rebels team.   Jake’s first year playing  for the Rebels they did not have a Mite team so Jake  played on the Rebels Squirt team for three years. Jake played his entire youth hockey career with the Rebels from Squirts  through Midget 16.     During his time with the Rebels Jakes teams won three Long Island Championships and appeared in two State Championships with one second place finish along with many Silver Stick and local tournament Championships.

This year playing in the Metropolitan Junior Hockey League Jake has gotten the attention he desired from college and NAHL scouts.    Jake is currently ranked as the second highest goal scorer for the Royals and is  ranked 12th in the MET league for points.

Junior Royals Head Coach Ken Hoey said that Jake is one of the boys this year that he believes has the capabilities to move up onto a NAHL team next year.     The Rebels Organization is proud of Jake and will follow his hockey career in the coming future.

If you would like to meet Jake or the other members of the Junior Royals team they will be participating in the Buddy Skate on December 30th.

Stephen Castriota Commits to Fredonia Blue DevilsThe Long Island Rebels and the Jr. Royals are very proud to announce that standout forward, Stephen Castriota, has committed to the Blue Devils of Fredonia State College for the 2011/2012 season. Fredonia is a member of the SUNYAC Conference, which is arguably the strongest Division III Conference in the United States. Stephen becomes the fourth player from this years New York Bobcats to receive a commitment to play collegiate hockey.

Stephen went to the Bobcats from the Junior "B" Long Island Royals, where he played during the 08/09 season. During that season, Stephen was an MJHL All-Star, and finished 4th overall in league scoring. Prior to joining the Junior ?B? Royals, Stephen was a key player for the Long Island Royals/Rebels Midget Minor 07/08 team, which earned a New York State Tier I Championship and a National Semi-final appearance. As a Long Island Rebel, he earned a Bantam and Midget Minor NYS Tier II State Championship, which respectively led to Final and Semi-final appearances in the U.S. Nationals. In addition to his travel youth hockey accomplishments, Stephen earned a Silver Medal with Team Long Island in the 2008 Empire State Games and was a High School Vytra Cup All-Star during the 07/08 and 08/09 seasons.

Stephen hopes to make an immediate impact on the ice at Fredonia. He plans to pursue a degree in Business Administration.
